Q:
How steep of a hill can I climb with one of your kits?

A:
Cyclone kits were designed to climb hills but how steep of a hill you climb will depend on what kit you have, your battery pack, weight of the rider, your bike's gearing and other factors. In general, you can count on any of our kits to get you up 10 to 15 degree grades quite easily. One of our test bikes is a 20" folding bike with a 500w motor and 24v 24Ahr battery. The largest rear cog is 28 teeth. This bike will climb a 30 degree angle with a 220 lb. rider with no problems!

Unlike hub motors which are always in "high gear", Cyclone motors make full use of your bike's gearing. When you come to a hill, just shift down like you would if you were pedaling. In most cases you will go up the hill at speeds that are faster than if you were pedaling. Check out our performance section for more insight about our hill climbing ability.
